Aqualog: L264 - Leporacanthicus joselimai - Sultan Pleco

The Sultan Pleco is a beautiful medium sized plecostomus that is most active when kept in a group. Like most plecos, the Sultan Pleco loves caves of driftwood.

In nature, the Sultan Pleco is an omnivore feeding on small crustaceans, insect larvae, and plant matter. It is primarily a herbivore and loves cucumber and other vegetables, but can benefit from occasional meaty foods such as krill.

This Hypancis from the Xingu River has a similar beautiful pattern to the L066. However, the L066 has a more whitish coloration, and the L333 has more yellow in between the black lines.

From the Amazon Waters of Venezuela, this we are happy to bring our Fancy Pleco enthusiast this splendid new specimen.

We have never encountered this pleco before, nor have our associates, and after showing it to quite a few experts, the initial conclusion is that this unmistakable Pleco variety does not yet have a proper scientific name or even an L number! We would be glad to hear what you have to say about it. Some suggested a couple of L numbers, but were clearly incorrect and not the same Pleco as shown here.
