The Black Arowana is extremely difficult to keep when it is young, (thus its greater scarcity), needing precise water conditions that exist in its Amazonian environment. Once a juvenile however, (4 inches or so), it becomes just as hardy as its silver cousin, feeding actively and tolerating a wider PH range.
