The Giant Armored shrimp is often known as the Cameroon African Shrimp, Fan Shrimp, African Filter Feeder Shrimp, or Vampire Shrimp
It is a very rare shrimp and a favorite for those in the know. Unlike many shrimps who are voracious eaters of plant and animal life (who can ruin a well kept aquarium), these Filter feeding shrimp, clean tiny and microscopic detritus from the water column.
In essence, they are a constant working filter for your aquarium, removing organic matter that would otherwise decompose, while leaving intact, even the smallest fish and plants.
These Vampire shrimps, are beautiful (of varying colors), gentle and much larger than almost all other freshwater shrimps. Their thick molting ?Armor? also makes the Giant Shrimp a suitable tank mate for all but the most aggressive fish.
